Getting Started

Using PA File Sight is very easy. When you first launch the product, a welcome dialog will be displayed that will guide you through auto-configuring your first server and creating a few default monitors.

After that step has completed, you will see the Console shown below (the particular computers and monitors will naturally be different). The red rectangle highlights the navigation pane. Similar to many other Windows products, this navigation pane displays items that you can interact with. Right clicking most items will give you a menu of choices. Selecting an item will cause the large right panel to change to your current selection.

In addition, you'll note that there are buttons in the navigation pane. These buttons categorize different items that you can interact with in the system.

The buttons across the top let you interact with PA File Sight as well as give you feedback.

Start/Stop Service The first button on the left lets you start and stop the PA File Sight service. When the Console first starts, it will be grey as the Console queries the operating system to determine if the service is running or not.

Settings You might already be familiar with the Settings button since the welcome dialog took you there to inspect the initial values.

Licenses Licenses are installed by copying them into the PA File Sight directory. The Licenses button will display the License Manager dialog to let you see your current status, as well as the option to switch between server-based and monitor-based licensing.

Activity Graph The Activity Graph is just a small indication of system activity. The green line in dicates the number of running monitors and the yellow line indicates the number of actions that have been run.

Exit This closes the PA File Sight Console. Since the actual monitoring is done by a service, exiting the Console does NOT stop the monitoring of your system.
