Customer Beneficial Licensing
We strive to create real value for our customers. Some customers want to check a resource or two across many servers. Per-server licensing is expensive for them. On the other hand, some customers want to monitor many different resources on a few servers. Per-monitor licensing is expensive for them. For that reason, we've introduced Customer Beneficial Licensing -- our licensing is as flexible as your needs. With PA Server Monitor and PA Storage Monitor you can choose whether to use per-server or per-monitor licensing. The license dialog lets you make the selection, and shows you how many per-server or per-monitor licenses you have.
NOTE: The licensing mode you select is purely an accounting choice (i.e. how the product counts what you are monitoring compared to the purchased licenses). It does not affect the functionality of the product in any way.
| The following license can... | watch this many servers... | or create this many monitors |
|---|---|---|
| 1 Lite License | 1 | 15 |
| 1 Pro License | 1 | 20 |
| Pro 5-Pack License | 5 | 100 |
| Pro 10-Pack License | 10 | 200 |
| Pro 20-Pack License | 20 | 400 |
EXAMPLE: If you purchase 2 individual PA Server Monitor Pro licenses
you can:
Run as many monitors as you want
against 2 total servers when using the per-server licensing mode. The
number of monitors that you create is not counted at all when using per-server licensing.
Or, if you choose, you can:
Use the per-monitor licensing
mode and can create a total of 2 x 20 = 40 monitors spread across as many servers as you like (i.e. 1 monitor on 40 servers,
10 monitors across 4 servers, 20 monitors on 1 server with the remaining 20 monitors spread across 7 servers, etc, etc). In this case, the number of servers
is not counted at all.
In the above example, a monitor is a single monitor-type directed at a single computer. If you've used the application, a monitor is represented by an icon below the server as shown in the example below.

CAVEAT: Each license should only be installed on a single computer at a time (excluding Site and Enterprise licenses). In the examples above where multiple computers/devices are monitored, those computers/devices would all be monitored from a single PA Server Monitor or PA Storage Monitor installation. (Naturally that doesn't apply to Site and Enterprise licenses were the per-monitor or per-server choice doesn't come into play)
Please contact us if you have any licensing questions.
