Getting Started

Using PA File Sight is very easy. When the Console starts, you'll see the main display similar to what is shown below. The red rectangle is highlighting the navigation pane. Selecting items there will change the content view on the right side. You can right-click on most items in the navigation pane for more options.

In addition, you'll note that there are buttons in the navigation pane. These buttons categorize different items that you can interact with in the system.

The buttons across the top let you interact with PA File Sight as well as give you feedback.

Start/Stop Service The first button on the left lets you start and stop the PA File Sight service. When the Console first starts, it will be grey as the Console queries the operating system to determine if the service is running or not.

Settings You might already be familiar with the Settings button since the welcome dialog took you there to inspect the initial values.

Licenses Licenses are installed by copying them into the PA File Sight directory. The Licenses button will display the License Manager dialog to let you see your current status, as well as the option to switch between server-based and monitor-based licensing.

Activity Graph The Activity Graph is just a small indication of system activity. The green line in dicates the number of running monitors and the yellow line indicates the number of actions that have been run.

Exit This closes the PA File Sight Console. Since the actual monitoring is done by a service, exiting the Console does NOT stop the monitoring of your system.

The first step is to right click on the local computer shown and select Add Monitor. This is how you add a File Sight monitoring module. You can have more than one module running against the local server. You might want to do this to watch different directories for example.
